This regulation exposes the conditions of participation of third parties and the general running of the Lyon Young Film Festival, managed by the LYF Association. It replaces and supersedes the previous directions settled by the former LYF Association Regulation.
This regulation is adopted by the managing director of the Lyon Young Film Festival, and approved by the Association’s Bureau. It remains inferior to the statutes currently in force in the Association.
The Bureau, by a unique and individual decision, on the demand of the film administration, programming and applications managers, can derogate from this regulation.
All the mentioned managers in this regulation act under the responsibility of the Lyon Young Film Festival head manager and the Association Bureau. Unless there is an express mention, no individual act can be taken by any other authorities than the two mentioned ones.
Article 2 - the applicant
The applicant must have been under 28 and 365 days when he made the film. He must be able to present a document that justify it if requested.
The applicant must be the director of the submitted work.
The applicant under 18 must present at the time of his inscription an authorization of participation signed by his guardian.
The candidate must not be a directing member of the LYF Association or a member of the managing team of the Lyon Young Film Festival.
Article 3 - copyrights
The applicant is supposed to be in possession of all the necessary authorizations of images and sound diffusion for the work on the Internet and in screening rooms. By his application, he acknowledge that the LYF Association and the managing team of the Lyon Young Film Festival cannot in any way be held accountable for the legal dispute caused by the potential non-existence of these authorizations.
Article 4 - third parties images and names rights
The applicant is supposed to be in possession of all the necessary authorizations needed for the diffusion, on the internet or in screening rooms, of third parties ‘s names and images. By his application, he acknowledge that the LYF Association and the managing team of the Lyon Young Film Festival cannot in any way be held accountable for the legal dispute caused by the potential non-existence of these authorizations.
Article 5 - technical form of the submitted work
The submitted work must link sound and images, and cannot exceed 25 minutes and 0 seconds, credits included. No genre restriction is imposed in the participation, except if there is a special decision took by the managing team of the Festival and if it is notified in a public way on the Association’s website, www.lyonyoungfilmfest.fr
The work might be francophone or subtitled in French.

Article 6 - reject form
The reject of the application is at the discretion of the film, programming and applications managing team. It is based on the dispositions of this regulation, its disposition status and its rules.
Article 7 - inadmissible application
An application can be classified as inadmissible if it contains a negligence, a mistake or if a piece is missing. An application can also be classified as inadmissible if it conflicts with the trust between the Festival team and the applicant. Any attempt of deceit, plagiarism, breach of trust or any fraudulent action spotted by the films management, programming and application team will lead to a complete and direct breaking of the relationship between the applicant and the LYF Association.
Selection and programming
Managers, functions and attributions
Article 8 - selection committee
The head of the films management, programming and applications leads the Festival selection committee who decides the Festival official selection, the potential supplementary selections, as well as the scheduling of all the selected works in the distinct selections.
In addition to that, the selection committee establishes, if needed, the list of the distinctions rewarded by the Festival for the upcoming edition, and mentions for every distinction the potential preselected works.
The Jury’s choice of altering this nominations must be heard and respected, as far as possible. However, the official selection and the potential supplementary selections can not be changed once they are published.
Article 9 - application cancelling
The applicant who wishes to redraw his work’s application of a selection of the Festival must do so by a message addressed to the Association president, in a reasonable delay preceding the dates of the Festival organisation.
Article 10 - nomination
The head of the films, programming and applications establish a list of chosen peoples to sit at the Jury. The list is let to the appreciation of the Festival general manager and the Bureau.
Article 11 - supplementary distinctions
Depending on the public relations maintained by the Association and the possible opportunities encountered, and in agreement with the Festival general manager and the head of films, programming and applications, the LYF Association Bureau can decide to allow the granting of secondary distinctions, if not covered by the Jury strictly speaking.
The modalities of the granting of the secondary distinctions will be submitted to a public announcement and figure in an annex of this regulation. All the applicants will be able to know the granting conditions of this distinctions.
General operation of the Jury
Article 12 - Jury presidency, screening secretariat and regulation of the Jury
The Jury presidency is chosen by the LYF Association Bureau. The Jury president is a full member of the Jury. In case of a debate, he shall have the casting vote.
One or several LYF Association members are chosen to ensure the secretariat and the follow up of the Jury during the deliberation time.
Article 13 - Jury deliberations
The Jury deliberations are submitted to a minute rigorously hold and signed by all the members, jurors, secretaries, assistants and anyone present in the room during the closed deliberations.
The Festival head manager signs and confirm the minute, he will keep the unique copy until the statement.
Article 14 - Other distinctions
The granting of other distinctions are defined by the regulations related to this distinctions. They must necessarily be signed by the person chosen as qualified, before being approved by the Association president.
